Hi, my name is Ngofeen Mputubwele, and I am launching a new podcast called The Power is Out in the next couple weeks. It follows the stories of people in their 20s and 30s who are trying to engage the world around them, which is a really great thing except that sometimes it can be pretty challenging.

For me that time was just very difficult. My brain was zapped. And there was just so little mentally that I could do.

Have I lost my mind? Am I just going to be a nanny for the rest of my life? Is it ever going to work? Am I ever going to launch?

I remember other kids making fun of me for that. It was being ashy and then having really nappy hair. I’m not ashy anymore, but I feel like my hair is generally nappy.

At times these stories take us into social issues and into different cultures.

If the reason we don’t worship together is because we don’t like each other, or we don’t like the way other people worship, what do we gonna think Heaven is like?

En français, t’as dit? On est où maintenant? On n’est pas à Paris? On est à New York.

But always, The Power is Out is about the goodness and hardness of when you try to care for the people and problems around you.

I guess I’m allowed to say this now because I’ve been trying to do this thing for a while, but it is not for the faint of heart. You literally question your sanity, your intelligence, your psychological stability at least once an hour.

It’s like, you want your life to be an epic story. So I think that’s what I’d tell myself on the phone. I’d say, Drew, the story of your life is about to get awesome. Buckle your seatbelt.

All that on The Power is Out.
